One of the NFL's coaches with the most experience is calling it quits. Dean Pees, who is the defensive coordinator for the Atlanta Falcons, has told the team that he is leaving.

A report says that Pees, who is 73 years old, has been thinking about the choice for several weeks. He has made up his mind.

Atlanta's search for a defensive coordinator will start right away. There should be a lot of good choices to choose from.

Pees, 73, had been weighing the decision in recent weeks. Atlanta will have to look far and wide to find its next defensive coordinator "said Tom Pelissero.

Dean Pees started coaching at the college level at the University of Findlay in 1978. In 1998, he became the head coach at Kent State.

Pees left college in 2004 to work for Bill Belichick in New England. He played for the Baltimore Ravens, the Tennessee Titans, and then the Atlanta Falcons.
